Muscat, June 2, 2026 – The Sultanate of Oman has achieved a major milestone in the World Bank’s 2025 Logistics Performance Index (LPI), securing first place globally in the “Export Supply Chain Initiation” indicator and reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s fastest and most efficient logistics hubs.
According to the report, Oman recorded an exceptional export supply chain initiation time of just 0.8 days, the fastest worldwide. This indicator measures the full cycle of an empty container—from departure to its return loaded and ready for export through a port—highlighting the efficiency of the country’s port operations and trade procedures.
The Sultanate also ranked ninth globally among 165 countries in the “Import Supply Chain Completion” indicator, demonstrating the effectiveness of its import logistics processes and the smooth movement of goods across its supply chain network.
At the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) level, Oman secured second place in the “Export Container Dwell Time at Port” indicator and third place in the “Direct Shipping Services” indicator. These results reflect the country’s strong maritime connectivity and its growing role in international trade routes.
Further strengthening its maritime position, Oman ranked 25th globally and second among GCC countries in the “Shipping Alliance Participation” indicator, which measures collaboration among international shipping lines to expand networks and improve global port access.
Additionally, the country achieved 39th place worldwide and third in the GCC in the “Direct Maritime Connectivity Partners” indicator, showcasing the wide range of markets directly connected to Omani ports through regular shipping services.
In the postal services sector, Oman ranked 16th globally among 190 countries and first in the GCC in the “Business-to-Business Mail Delivery Time” indicator, highlighting the reliability and efficiency of its postal infrastructure and commercial delivery services.
These achievements reflect Oman’s continued commitment to enhancing logistics infrastructure, modernizing port facilities, expanding maritime services, and improving operational efficiency. These efforts align with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to diversify the economy, attract investment, and position the Sultanate as a leading global logistics and trade gateway.
The Logistics Performance Index by the World Bank is one of the most important international benchmarks for evaluating supply chain efficiency and trade logistics. Its updated methodology relies on real operational shipment data rather than traditional surveys, ensuring a more accurate and reliable assessment of global logistics performance.
