About Omanspire

An English-language window into Oman, launched in July 2017.

Omanspire tells stories from Oman with care: culture, history, travel, people, economy, sport, and the everyday life that makes a country more than a headline.

Oman deserves to be read with attention.

Omanspire began in July 2017 as a simple publishing idea: make Oman more visible to English-speaking readers without flattening its character. The country is often described through tourism slogans, official notices, or outside analysis. We wanted a publication that could sit closer to the ground.

That means paying attention to the old and the new at the same time: forts and families, artists and athletes, coastlines and cities, heritage and policy, small human details and larger national shifts.

Our work is guided by a plain editorial test: would an Omani feel represented with dignity, and would a reader from elsewhere feel invited to understand more?

How we tell Oman’s stories

01

Begin with respect

We write about Oman as a lived country, not a backdrop. We pay attention to names, context, memory, and the texture of ordinary life.

02

Leave something clear

A story should give the reader something to carry forward: a place to visit, a person to know, an idea to understand, or a reason to look again.

03

Keep the voice human

We prefer calm, precise writing over noise. The best stories make room for curiosity, dignity, and a little wonder.

— A letter from the founder —

Dear reader,

Omanspire began as a simple question: could we tell Oman’s stories in English, for the world, with the care our country deserves?

We’re a small team. We publish what we love, we interview the people we admire, and we try – always – to earn your attention rather than demand it.

If a story we publish makes you want to visit, to read further, or to send it to a friend – we’ve done our job.
