Oman Expands Global Reach: Launch of the African-Omani Bank in Luanda Signals Strategic Investment Growth

In a significant step aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the Sultanate of Oman has announced the establishment of the African-Omani Bank (ABO) in Luanda. This initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to diversifying income sources and expanding its global investment presence, particularly in emerging African markets.

The launch of the bank marks a major milestone in strengthening economic relations between Oman and Africa. It also complements the Angola 2050 Strategy, which focuses on economic diversification, privatization, infrastructure development, and attracting international investment.

Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said stated that the creation of ABO reflects Oman’s economic diplomacy approach under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He emphasized that the initiative reinforces Oman’s position as a bridge connecting regional and global markets.

His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi highlighted that the bank goes beyond being a financial institution—it serves as a strategic platform to enhance capital flows, trade, and investment between Oman and African nations. He added that ABO will support Omani companies in expanding globally while enabling African businesses to access Middle Eastern markets.

Positioned as a cross-border investment bank, ABO will offer a range of services, including trade finance, banking guarantees, liquidity management, and large-scale project funding. In its initial phase, the bank is expected to serve approximately 50 major corporations, including multinational companies and government entities operating in Angola.

Ultimately, the African-Omani Bank strengthens Oman’s growing role as a global economic connector—opening new financial channels, promoting sustainable development, and reinforcing its position as a trusted international investment partner.
