Al-Hazm Fort
The fort is located in Al Hazm town, in Wilayat Rustaq, Al Batinah Region. It is considered one of the traditional Omani defensive features. Al-Hazm Fort is considered one of the most beautiful and luxurious Omani forts, which was built during the era of the Ya’ariba, during the reign of Imam Sultan bin Saif al-Yaribi, the fifth imam of the Ya’aribi state, which ruled Oman during the period from 1624 to 1738. His grave is located in the fort as well. From its balconies, one can overlook the palm oases of the beautiful village of Al Hazm, which is also one of the natural tourist destinations in Rustaq. In addition, the fort has several huge doors that do not meet with a single corridor, and it has several Portuguese and Spanish antique cannons with a range of 70 kilometers. It is distinguished by the presence of several special stairs for horses to climb, in addition to the secret passages, each one is two meters wide and two meters high, and they are corridors that spread on the four sides of the fort, and then exit to the city. There are also several rooms in Al-Hazm Fort that were used to teach the Holy Qur’an, sciences, and religious knowledge.
