From Oman to London: Two Youth Projects Among World’s Best at LIYSF 2025

Two groundbreaking research projects from the Sultanate of Oman have earned a prestigious spot among the top 13 global projects selected for presentation at the 66th London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF), scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 6, 2025, in the United Kingdom.

Oman’s Innovation on the Global Stage

Oman’s participation includes five innovative scientific projects selected from over 340 national entries. Among these, two standout projects were shortlisted for global presentation—showcasing the ingenuity and scientific excellence of Omani youth in the fields of clean energy, environmental sustainability, and advanced technology.

🌱 Innovative Environmental Solution by Hala bint Ali Al-Zuabiya

One of the featured projects is by Hala bint Ali Al-Zuabiya, titled:
“Dual Treatment of Landfill Leachate Using Date Seed Tannins and Advanced Oxidation Technology.”

This research introduces a sustainable method for industrial waste treatment using natural tannins extracted from date seeds, combined with advanced oxidation processes—offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to landfill pollution.

⚡ AI-Powered Clean Energy by Al-Muntasir bin Salem Al-Ma’amari

The second project, led by Al-Muntasir bin Salem Al-Ma’amari, is titled:
“AI-Driven Green Hydrogen Production from Mesquite Trees and Industrial Waste.”

This project leverages artificial intelligence to optimize the production of green hydrogen using biomass from invasive mesquite trees and industrial waste—offering a promising path toward scalable and sustainable clean energy.

The selection of these two projects reflects Oman’s growing influence in global scientific communities and its commitment to nurturing youth-led research. It also aligns with Oman Vision 2040 goals for scientific advancement and innovation-driven development.
