In a recent statement, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said for the issuance of the Social Protection Law and the regulations governing the Social Protection Fund, as well as the Military and Security Forces Retirement Fund. These legislative measures reflect His Majesty’s unwavering commitment to elevating the social welfare of the people of Oman, in line with the sustainable vision outlined in “Oman 2040.”
The General Secretariat also extended its thanks to the Shura Council, the Ministerial Committee responsible for overseeing the necessary procedures to integrate the retirement funds, and various stakeholders involved in the restructuring, development, and formulation of comprehensive policies for the social protection system. The collective efforts exerted by the sub-committees, project teams, and representatives of the production sectors were pivotal in shaping the final versions of the laws.
The General Secretariat emphasized the significance of implementing the Social Protection Law and the accompanying regulations, as they are expected to enhance the social welfare framework and provide sustainable social protection across all segments of society. By ensuring comprehensive coverage and safeguarding the social well-being of citizens, these measures aim to reinforce the social fabric of the Sultanate of Oman.
