Solar Cell Cleaning Robot

Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Development Laboratory Launches Solar Cell Cleaning Robot

The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Development Laboratory, in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman, launched a solar cell cleaning robot, which is a local innovation that aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of solar power plants by automatically cleaning solar cells according to need.

Abdul Rahman bin Affan Al-Hajji, head of the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Development Laboratory Company, said that the solar cell cleaning robot is a unique innovation designed and manufactured locally to clean vast solar cell stations with high efficiency, ensuring the sustainability of the optimal performance of these stations.

He added that the project aims to reduce human effort and potential risks resulting from manual cleaning operations, as it is designed to clean solar cells automatically, which enhances the performance of solar power plants and reduces the need for direct human intervention, thus ensuring the safety of workers and the sustainability of operation.

He stated that the robot relies on solar energy and uses sensors to collect data and implement an automation system in cleaning operations. The robot is also distinguished by its ability to clean dry and wet according to the type of dirt, which ensures high efficiency in maintaining the cleanliness of the solar cells.

He explained that the robot was tested at Petroleum Development Oman, and the results achieved high efficiency, as it cleaned more than 700 solar panels. He pointed out that the robot works efficiently in all weather conditions, which ensures continuity of performance, as this technology contributes to reducing the water used in cleaning. Traditional cleaning and increased solar energy productivity, reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

It is worth noting that this innovation represents an important step towards achieving environmental sustainability and increasing the efficiency of solar energy plants, which contributes to reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and enhancing the use of renewable energy in the region.
