Oman Launches “Green” Campaign to Promote Sustainable Economy and Future Jobs

The Ministry of Education and the Authority for Public Services Regulation launched the “Green” campaign in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate to prepare a generation aware of green-economy career paths that match Oman’s labour market needs.

Overview

The “Green” campaign — a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Authority for Public Services Regulation — began in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with the goal of linking students and vocational guidance specialists to opportunities in the green economy, sustainable development and Oman’s labour market.

Nationwide rollout

The campaign will be implemented in two phases:

  • Phase One: Six governorates during the first semester.
  • Phase Two: Five additional governorates in the second semester.

Target participants

The campaign targets 2,200 participants from across Oman, split as follows:

Training program highlights

The two-day training in South Al Sharqiyah included:

  • Day 1: Sessions for vocational guidance specialists to enhance their ability to support students’ career and academic decisions.
  • Day 2: Interactive workshops and hands-on activities for students introducing green economy concepts and emerging green jobs.

Objectives

  • Raise youth awareness about career opportunities in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and natural resource management.
  • Empower guidance specialists to help students make informed academic and professional choices aligned with Oman’s labour market.
  • Support Oman’s employment ecosystem and contribute to economic diversification in line with sustainable development goals.
