Oman Celebrates 280 Years of Al Bu Said Dynasty with Commemorative Coins
Commemorative Coin Designs Reflect Omani Heritage:
The new coins are a tribute to Oman’s rich history, featuring detailed and colorful designs that celebrate the nation’s landmarks and leadership.
- The obverse side displays a portrait of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Royal Insignia, Al Alam Palace, and the historic Jalali and Mirani Forts.
- The reverse side highlights Sohar Fort, a traditional Omani sailing ship, and the names of Al Bu Said Imams and Sultans, showcasing the dynasty’s important role in shaping Oman.
Coin Specifications and Availability:
The Central Bank has minted 15 gold coins and 1,000 silver coins, each with a nominal value of 1 Omani Rial. The coins are made with high-quality materials: gold at 0.927 purity and silver at 0.999 purity, with a diameter of 75 mm and a weight of 113.40 grams.
