Early Beginnings and Olympic Debut
The Oman Olympic Committee was established in 1982 and received official IOC recognition on May 28 of the same year. Oman made its Olympic debut at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles, with 16 athletes competing in athletics, sailing, and shooting.
Consistent Summer Participation
Since 1984, Oman has taken part in 11 consecutive Summer Olympics through Paris 2024. Oman has not yet competed in any Winter Olympic Games.

- Total athletes: 52 (47 men, 5 women)
- First female Olympian: Buthaina Al-Yaqoubi in 2008 (Beijing)
- Women have since represented Oman in London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024.

Support and Future Outlook
In 2022, Olympic Solidarity grants supported nine Omani athletes preparing for Paris 2024 — a national record. Oman’s commitment to sports development continues to grow, especially with increased support for female athletes and Olympic training.
