Oman and UK Emphasize Diplomatic Solutions to Regional Crises and Iranian Nuclear Talks
The Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations
and promoting diplomatic solutions to key regional challenges, including the Iranian nuclear file.
During high-level talks held in London, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister
of Foreign Affairs, met with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper to review avenues for expanding strategic
cooperation in political, economic, and development fields. Both sides emphasized the importance of advancing joint
initiatives and ensuring the effective implementation of agreed programs.
Discussions also focused on regional developments, with particular attention given to Yemen, Gaza, Sudan, and Iran.
The ministers underscored the need to support efforts aimed at consolidating calm in Yemen through inclusive political dialogue,
while safeguarding the country’s unity and sovereignty.
On Gaza, both sides highlighted the urgency of increasing humanitarian assistance, intensifying international efforts to
reach a permanent ceasefire, and supporting reconstruction initiatives alongside reviving the peace process based on the
two-state solution.
Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, Oman and the UK stressed the importance of restoring diplomatic negotiations as a means
to reduce regional tensions, enhance security, and prevent further escalation.
The talks also addressed the worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan, with both parties calling for an immediate ceasefire
to allow humanitarian organizations to deliver aid and to pave the way for a political settlement.
The meeting reflects Oman and the United Kingdom’s shared belief in diplomacy as a cornerstone for achieving regional stability,
security, and sustainable peace.
