Oman and Iran Discuss Safeguarding Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

On April 4, 2026, the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran held a constructive meeting
at the undersecretary level of their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The meeting also included
participation from relevant experts on both sides.

Discussions focused on identifying practical measures to ensure the continued smooth flow of maritime
traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, particularly in light of current regional developments.

Both sides exchanged a variety of perspectives and proposals, highlighting their shared commitment to:

  • Maintaining regional stability
  • Enhancing maritime security
  • Ensuring the uninterrupted movement of international shipping

The proposals discussed will undergo further review and coordination between the relevant authorities
in both countries.
