Joint Omani-Iranian Statement | Official Visit of Iranian President to Oman

Joint Omani-Iranian Statement

On the Occasion of the Official Visit of His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to the Sultanate of Oman

May 27–28, 2025

In response to a fraternal invitation extended by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, paid an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27–28, 2025.

This visit reflects the deep-rooted historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the strong bonds shared by their peoples. It aimed to further strengthen bilateral relations and reaffirm the mutual appreciation, respect, and principles of religion, brotherhood, and good neighbourliness that underpin the ties between the two countries.

During the visit, an official meeting was held between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Excellency President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. The two leaders reviewed the prospects for enhanced bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of economic and investment partnerships. They also discussed joint coordination on issues that serve the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and emphasized the importance of expanding these efforts. They called for the continuation and regular convening of joint committees to explore new avenues of collaboration across various fields.

Recognizing the valuable role of the private sector, His Majesty the Sultan and His Excellency the President welcomed the contributions made by business communities in both countries. They expressed their hope that private sector initiatives would further promote investment and trade. In support of these efforts, several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit, covering cooperation in investment protection and promotion, legal and judicial matters, trade preferences, and a framework for broader joint collaboration.

The two sides also celebrated ongoing cooperation between Oman Post and the Iranian National Post, particularly the issuance of a joint postage stamp symbolizing the strength of bilateral relations and shared cultural values—an initiative that promotes cultural diplomacy and fosters mutual understanding.

On regional and international matters, the two leaders discussed several pressing issues, including the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. They stressed the urgent need for a complete and lasting ceasefire, the cessation of hostilities, and an end to the humanitarian catastrophe inflicted upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation forces. Both sides firmly rejected any plans aimed at displacing or persecuting Palestinians, and they called on the international community to fulfill its humanitarian responsibilities toward the civilians in Gaza.

His Majesty and His Excellency also expressed satisfaction with the level of political dialogue and coordination between Oman and Iran on both bilateral and international levels. President Pezeshkian conveyed Iran’s deep appreciation for Oman’s constructive role in facilitating indirect talks between Iran and the United States concerning the nuclear issue. In turn, His Majesty the Sultan voiced hope that these efforts would lead to a comprehensive agreement that promotes regional and global peace, security, and prosperity.

The two nations reaffirmed the need to intensify efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, and emphasized the importance of sustained consultation and coordination in regional and international forums.

President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and to the government and people of Oman, for their warm hospitality and gracious welcome. He extended a fraternal invitation to His Majesty the Sultan to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran—an invitation that was warmly accepted.

This joint statement was issued in Muscat on May 28, 2025.
