National Museum Launches Chinese-Language Website

In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of China in the Sultanate of Oman, the National Museum proudly inaugurated a Chinese-language version of its website on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, Her Excellency Ambassador Li Lingbing, the accredited Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Sultanate of Oman, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al-Hosni, the Head of the Asia and Pacific Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A distinguished gathering of officials and individuals with a keen interest in cultural affairs also attended the event.

As part of the ceremony, guests were invited on a special tour of the National Museum’s various galleries, including the Maritime History Gallery, the Land of Frankincense Gallery, the Splendours of Islam Gallery, and the Oman and the World Gallery. This informative tour showcased exceptional artifacts that eloquently narrate the enduring Omani-Chinese relations that have transcended the sands of time.

“The launch of the Chinese-language version of the National Museum’s website marks a significant step in fostering cultural cooperation between the National Museum and the Embassy of the Republic of China,” remarked Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum. “This initiative serves as a gateway for Chinese-speaking tourists and residents to delve into Oman’s rich cultural heritage, spanning countless historical eras. It will undoubtedly contribute to the revitalization of cultural and museum tourism in the Sultanate of Oman, with particular emphasis on the National Museum. This digital platform also presents an excellent opportunity to highlight the museum’s pivotal role, showcasing its diverse activities and notable events.”

In her address, Ambassador Li Lingbing of the Republic of China to the Sultanate of Oman affirmed, “In recent years, economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and the Sultanate of Oman have flourished, witnessing remarkable and profound growth. Oman, with its captivating beauty and deep-rooted civilization, has garnered increasing interest among Chinese tourists.”

Ambassador Li Lingbing further elaborated, “The Chinese-language website of the National Museum will undoubtedly serve as a new window for the Chinese people to gain a deeper understanding of the Sultanate of Oman, enticing them to embark on cultural journeys to this enchanting land.”

It is noteworthy that the National Museum’s website boasts an array of technical and artistic features that seamlessly guide users through its various sections. These include a user-friendly interface, a cohesive design that aligns with the museum’s identity and mission, effortless navigation and usability, and seamless compatibility with a wide range of browsers and smart devices.

Enriching the user experience, the website offers interactive services such as interactive maps and a captivating 360-degree virtual tour, guiding users through the museum’s diverse galleries, housing a treasure trove of artifacts. Additionally, the website serves as a reliable source for internet users to stay abreast of the latest news, activities, and events related to the Museum. It also provides a platform for showcasing the museum’s significant releases.
