Muscat: Culminating their efforts in promoting environmental culture, the Environment Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, celebrated yesterday the honoring of students who won the environmental competitions of the “Stay Careful” (Khallak Harees) initiative for school students. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, with the attendance of several educational officials and specialists.
The ceremony reviewed the most prominent achievements of the initiative through a visual presentation detailing its implementation stages, the programs and activities carried out across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and its impact on raising environmental awareness among students and society.
“The initiative successfully nurtured a deep sense of environmental responsibility among the youth, empowering them to express their vision for a sustainable future through art, literature, and film.”
Awarding the Creative Minds
The ceremony witnessed the honoring of winners in the Environmental Drawing Competition, where student Turki bin Maher Al Hasani from Al Tamayyuz Basic Education School in Muscat Governorate won first place.
In the Environmental Articles Competition, student Amal bint Abdul Wahab Al Ajmi from Nufaiseh bint Al Hassan School in North Al Batinah Governorate secured first place.
The honoring concluded by crowning the winners of the Environmental Films Competition, where student Saba bint Ibrahim Al Aghbari from Um Warqa Al Ansariya Basic Education School in Muscat Governorate took first place.
Voices of the Winners
Turki bin Maher Al Hasani, the first-place winner in the drawing competition, stated: “My participation came through an artwork that embodied the importance of preserving the cleanliness of the environment we live in, expressing this through drawings that reflect children’s behavior in caring for places.”
Amal bint Abdul Wahab Al Batashi, the first-place winner in the environmental articles competition, shared that her participation was driven by a personal passion for writing and environmental issues.
Saba bint Ibrahim Al Aghbari, the first-place winner in the film competition, explained: “The idea for my film aimed to illustrate the importance of instilling environmental care in children from a young age, and promoting positive behavior towards public spaces, even if they are not directly connected to them.”
