Three-Tiered Capacity Pricing Structure

The approved fee schedule categorizes charging infrastructure into three distinct operational brackets based on rated power output and delivery velocity. The design directly reflects the divergent capital expenditure (capex) and grid connection requirements
across slow, fast, and high-capacity direct-current (DC) installations.

  • Standard Capacity (Up to 90 kW): Capped at 50 baisas per kilowatt-hour (kWh), targeted primarily at destination hubs, commercial retail centers, and extended-stay municipal parking.
  • Rapid Capacity (91 kW to 180 kW): Set at 90 baisas per kWh, designed for intermediate corridor stops requiring turnaround times between 25 and 45 minutes.

    Convergence with Vision 2040 and Net Zero 2050

    The transportation sector currently accounts for approximately 18 percent of national greenhouse gas emissions in Oman. Under the National Zero-Emission Mobility Plan, the government has targeted phased milestones: reaching a 20 percent share of new electric
    vehicle registrations by 2030, scaling to 50 percent by 2040, and transitioning to 100 percent zero-emission light-duty sales by 2050.

    By resolving charging pricing ambiguity, Oman eliminates a substantial perceptual hurdle for private fleet operators and individual motorists contemplating the switch from internal combustion engines. Furthermore, the tariff structure incentivizes off-peak
    charging behavior, allowing electricity distribution companies to optimize grid stability as utility-scale solar and wind projects feed increasing volumes of intermittent clean power into the national transmission system.
