Hafeet Rail Project

In a significant development set to reshape the regional transportation landscape

Preparations are well underway for the Hafeet Rail project that will link the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Spearheaded by Asyad Group, under the leadership of CEO Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Salem al Hatmi, the project aims to introduce innovative engineering solutions to surmount the diverse terrains and weather conditions encountered along the route.

Hafeet Rail Network Features

The Hafeet Rail network is slated to feature two tunnels spanning 2.5 kilometers each and an array of 36 bridges, some towering up to 34 meters in height. With passenger stations earmarked for Suhar and Al Ain, and freight stations strategically positioned in Sohar, Buraimi, and Al Ain, the project is poised to bolster connectivity and facilitate seamless movement of goods and people between the two nations.

Reduced Journey Times

Travelers can anticipate a substantial reduction in journey times, with the train slated to cover the distance between Suhar and Abu Dhabi in a mere 100 minutes, and the route between Suhar and Al Ain in just 47 minutes, spanning a total length of 238 kilometers.

Economic Impetus

Highlighting the economic impetus of the initiative, Al Hatmi emphasized that a single freight train trip has the capacity to transport over 25,000 tons of cargo, underscoring the project’s potential to drive economic growth and enhance regional trade links.

Future Prospects

As the project gathers momentum, all eyes are on the horizon as the Hafeet Rail project gears up to revolutionize cross-border connectivity and foster greater integration between Oman and the UAE. Stay tuned for further updates as this transformative rail network takes shape!
