Sultan Qaboos Library at ICESCO Enhances Global Cultural Dialogue and Knowledge Access

The Sultan Qaboos Library, located at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Rabat, is rapidly emerging as a prominent cultural and knowledge hub within the Islamic world. This initiative reflects Oman’s expanding role in global cultural diplomacy and its commitment to advancing education, research, and international dialogue.

Named in honor of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the library pays tribute to his enduring legacy of promoting knowledge, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. It embodies Oman’s vision of leveraging culture and education as powerful tools for fostering global collaboration and mutual understanding.

The library features a rich collection of more than 6,000 printed works focusing on Omani and Islamic heritage, complemented by an extensive digital archive exceeding 200,000 titles. Equipped with advanced multilingual search systems and remote access capabilities, it serves as a valuable resource for researchers, scholars, and students worldwide.

Designed to integrate both physical and digital learning environments, the Sultan Qaboos Library offers modern reading areas, research facilities, and interactive platforms. It also hosts seminars, workshops, and cultural events that promote dialogue on contemporary global issues.

In line with inclusive values, the library provides specialized services for individuals with disabilities, as well as dedicated spaces for children and young readers—encouraging a culture of reading and lifelong learning across all age groups.

This initiative aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to enhance its “soft power” by expanding its cultural presence internationally. Through investments in knowledge-sharing platforms and support for open access to information, Oman continues to build sustainable bridges between diverse nations and cultures.

Ultimately, the Sultan Qaboos Library at ICESCO stands as a powerful symbol of the transformative role of knowledge in shaping a more connected, informed, and collaborative world.
