Oman and France Boost Defense Cooperation in High-Level Strategic Meetings

In a significant move to strengthen military and diplomatic ties, Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, received General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of France, along with his accompanying delegation at Al Murtafa’a Camp.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the strong and longstanding relations between Oman and France, highlighting the depth of their strategic partnership. Discussions also covered the latest regional and international developments, with an exchange of views on enhancing mutual interests—particularly in the areas of defense, security, and stability.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, as well as the French Ambassador accredited to Oman, underlining the importance of the visit at both diplomatic and military levels.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

In a separate meeting held earlier in the day, Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office, received the French Chief of Staff and his delegation at his office. The two sides discussed the historic ties linking Oman and France and explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in ways that enhance the security of both friendly nations.

The discussions also emphasized expanding defense collaboration and the exchange of military expertise, reflecting a shared commitment to regional peace and international cooperation. The meeting was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and the French Ambassador to Oman.
