Official visit at Al-Alam Palace reinforces political, economic and cultural ties

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik — may God protect and preserve him — received the President of the Republic of Turkey at Al-Alam Palace for an expanded official session of talks, warmly reaffirming the deep historical ties between the two nations and expressing a shared aspiration to deepen cooperation across vital sectors.

Key outcomes witnessed during the visit:

  • Signing of a joint declaration and joint statement.
  • Six agreements and eight memoranda of understanding covering investment, trade, education, technology, defense, media, innovation and industry.
  • Establishment of the Omani-Turkish Coordinating Council and launch of a joint investment fund.
  • Mutual visa exemptions to facilitate tourism, business and educational exchange.

His Majesty welcomed the growth in trade and investment, noting an increase in trade volume and reiterating the mutual goal of raising bilateral trade to USD 5 billion. He praised Turkish companies’ contributions to Omani infrastructure works and highlighted Omani investments in Turkey as a sign of reciprocal confidence.

The two leaders stressed the importance of enhanced cooperation in education, research and innovation and reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability. His Majesty commended Turkey’s role in supporting diplomatic efforts leading to a ceasefire in Gaza.

In turn, the President of Turkey expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality extended by His Majesty, recalled the Sultan’s recent visit to Turkey as an important milestone, and announced visa exemption for Omani citizens—mirroring Oman’s move—emphasizing that these measures will strengthen ties in trade, investment, tourism and education.
