When Passion Meets Purpose—A New Era for Gulf Women
When Passion Meets Purpose—A New Era for Gulf Women

Today, Gulf women are not just stepping into new arenas—they’re leading them. With vision and determination, they’re redefining boundaries in industries once dominated by men. Whether it’s entrepreneurship, diplomacy, or motorsports, they’re proving that ambition knows no limits.

One such remarkable woman is Moudhi Alanzi, a Saudi adventurer whose love for cars and off-road exploration has inspired many. Now, she’s setting her sights on Oman, eager to explore its rugged terrains and embrace new adventures. Her story is one of perseverance, passion, and a drive to chart her own path—one mile at a time.

From Childhood Fascination to Automotive Expertise

Moudhi’s journey into the world of cars began at an early age. What started as curiosity grew into a deep passion. In 2022, she bought her first vehicle—a Suzuki Jimny. That marked the beginning of a hands-on journey into off-road driving and vehicle mechanics.

She gained practical experience working at two automotive centers: one specialized in pickup truck modifications and the other in car repair services. Through this, she developed a solid foundation in diagnosing mechanical issues and understanding complex vehicle systems.

Making a Mark at Rally Jameel

While she humbly says she doesn’t see herself as a professional driver, Moudhi’s participation in the second edition of Rally Jameel for Women was a bold milestone. It wasn’t just about competition—it was about representation, courage, and the power of showing up in spaces where women are still underrepresented.

More Than a Car: The Story of “JeJe”

Her first Jimny, lovingly nicknamed “Little JeJe,” became her adventure companion. Moudhi personally modified the vehicle—upgrading the suspension with Dobinsons, installing evocorse wheels, off-road tires, a steering damper, and a radio communication system.

Each adjustment reflected her personal touch, turning the car into a mirror of her adventurous spirit. Now, she continues the legacy with “Big JeJe,” a five-door Jimny built for longer journeys and bigger dreams—aiming to explore Oman’s diverse landscapes.

Why Off-Roading?

To Moudhi, off-road driving isn’t just a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. She feels that 4×4 vehicles reflect her personality: bold, curious, and adaptable. The Suzuki Jimny, in particular, stands out for its compact strength and versatility, making it perfect for both everyday use and rugged exploration—especially in Oman’s mountainous terrains and desert trails.

Empowered Women, Empowering Change

Moudhi is proud of how far Gulf women, including Saudi women, have come. Inspired by figures like Dania Akeel, the first Saudi woman to win the Baja World Cup, and Aseel Al-Hamad, who paved the way for women in motorsports, she believes this momentum is part of a much larger shift across the Gulf region, Oman included.

She credits Saudi Arabia’s leadership and Vision 2030 for creating an environment where women are encouraged to lead, achieve, and inspire.

Breaking Stereotypes with Confidence

The road hasn’t been without challenges. Stereotypes, limited training opportunities, and lack of support were real obstacles. But Moudhi—and many women like her—overcame them with resilience. Today, she stands as proof that women belong in garages, on racetracks, and behind the wheel of change—whether in Saudi Arabia or beyond.

Memorable Adventures

One of Moudhi’s most unforgettable experiences was a solo trip to the UAE, where she attended the Liwa Festival at Moreeb Dune. She dreams of experiencing similar adventures in Oman—exploring the stunning dunes of Wahiba Sands, the mountains of Jebel Akhdar, and the scenic coastal roads of Musandam.

She says mountain paths and desert trails offer her peace, adventure, and a break from the demands of daily life. They are where she reconnects with herself—and she’s eager to add Oman’s terrains to her list.

Preparedness Is Key

For Moudhi, preparation is everything. Before every trip, she checks her vehicle, packs emergency supplies, first-aid kits, communication devices, food, water, and camping gear for extended adventures. She also encourages group travel for added safety and joy—something she looks forward to doing in Oman with local off-road groups.

Dreams in Motion

Looking ahead, Moudhi hopes to establish a professional automotive center, offering top-tier services with a focus on quality and innovation. With her deep knowledge and passion, she intends to create a hub for car lovers and adventurers alike.

She also plans to compete in rally events across the Gulf—seeing it not just as a thrill, but as a way to continue her journey of personal growth and inspire other women to follow suit.

To Every Woman with a Dream

“Don’t wait for permission. If you have the passion—pursue it. The world of cars and adventure is wide open for anyone willing to learn and explore. Your courage could spark a revolution in someone else’s story.”

Next Stop: Oman

Although she hasn’t yet explored Oman in her car, it’s at the top of her travel list. The lush landscapes of Salalah during Khareef, the mysterious shipwreck in Fatteh Qut, and the pristine beaches of Ras Al Jinz have captured her imagination.

She looks forward to connecting with Omani off-road driving groups, believing that shared knowledge and collective experiences make every journey richer.

Preparing for the Terrain

She’s aware of potential challenges like unpredictable weather, muddy trails, and rugged terrains—especially in Salalah and Dhofar. But she’s ready. Monitoring weather forecasts, taking the right safety measures, and learning from local experts will be part of her adventure.

A Journey Awaiting

At the end of our conversation, Moudhi received an invitation to visit Dhofar and explore Oman’s breathtaking landscapes with her Jimny. Her response, full of warmth and excitement:

“It would be an honor—I truly look forward to this adventure in Oman!”

Embarking on new horizons, Moudhi’s journey continues — inspiring women across the Gulf and beyond to embrace adventure, challenge stereotypes, and chase their dreams in Oman and everywhere in between.
