Oman’s Military Taekwondo Team Shines at World Championship in Germany with Silver and Bronze Medals

The Omani military taekwondo team delivered an impressive performance at the 28th Military World Taekwondo Championship, currently underway in Germany, securing both silver and bronze medals in the prestigious global event.

Corporal Shabeeb bin Salem Al-Wahaibi earned Oman its first medal in the championship by clinching silver in the under-58kg category, following a series of strong performances that demonstrated his technical skill and tactical excellence.

On the achievement, Colonel Pilot Hamad bin Salem Al Balushi, Director of Military Sports at the Sultan’s Armed Forces Headquarters and Deputy Head of the delegation, praised the team’s efforts and commitment. “This silver medal reflects the tremendous dedication and teamwork shown by the players, coaching staff, and support team. We are proud of their honorable representation of Oman on the global stage,” he stated.

Team coach, Sergeant Adel bin Khalifa Al-Wahaibi, expressed pride in the athletes’ level of preparation and execution. “Our players showed exceptional skill and determination throughout the matches. Their high-level performance drew admiration from all present. Winning a silver medal on the very first day is a promising sign, and we aim to bring home even more,” he said.

The team’s momentum continued as Sergeant Mohsen bin Rashid Al-Yousfi went on to win the bronze medal in the under-63kg category, following fierce competition among top international contenders.

The 28th edition of the Military World Taekwondo Championship, hosted in Germany, will run until June 29, 2025. The Omani team’s performance so far signals a strong presence in the international military sports arena and sets high expectations for the remaining days of the tournament.
