Oman Hosts First Meeting for CEOs in Tech and Startup Sectors

A Vision for Collaboration and Digital Growth

The meeting launched the CEO Network, a platform designed to enhance strategic partnerships and support Oman’s digital transformation efforts. Additionally, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology introduced a new platform for tech companies under the “Mekeen” initiative. The platform serves as a resource for consolidating data on active Omani ICT companies, facilitating accurate reporting, creating a comprehensive company database, and promoting products and services.

Supporting Oman’s Vision 2040

H.E. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, emphasized the alignment of this initiative with Oman’s Vision 2040 and the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He highlighted the importance of supporting public-private partnerships to enhance the business environment, drive economic diversification, and position the ICT sector as a cornerstone of Oman’s development strategy.

H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shezani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, reinforced the significance of collaboration between the public and private sectors. He stressed that effective partnerships would bolster the national digital economy program, advance digital infrastructure, and attract investments while fostering innovation.

Open Discussions and Strategic Outcomes

The event concluded with an open discussion session led by H.E. Hussain Al Lawati, Member of the Shura Council and OCCI’s Digital Economy Committee. Key industry leaders, including H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shezani, engaged in a dialogue to explore the challenges facing the tech sector and brainstorm actionable solutions. Participants proposed initiatives to enhance the tech business ecosystem, support startups, and strengthen Oman’s position as a hub for technological innovation.

This first-of-its-kind meeting marked a strategic milestone in Oman’s efforts to empower the ICT sector and foster economic diversification through investments in emerging technologies and cross-sector partnerships.
