Starting next week in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, the semi-regional forum titled “Culture and Green Heritage: The Path to Sustainability” will kick off. This event is organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Omani National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science, alongside the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. The forum is also a partnership effort involving the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science. It brings together experts and specialists in cultural and natural heritage preservation, representing institutions like the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO), the UNESCO Regional Office for the Arab States in the Gulf and Yemen (located in Doha), and the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage in Bahrain, along with several Omani and Gulf experts.
This forum has its sights set on researchers, academics, and professionals in fields such as heritage, culture, environment, and tourism. Local community members are also part of its intended audience. The forum’s opening ceremony will be led by His Excellency Engineer Ibrahim bin Said bin Khalaf Al Khrosi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage. Over its course, the forum aims to introduce the concepts of culture and green heritage, tackle challenges tied to these areas, explore how artificial intelligence can enhance practices linked to cultural and green heritage, present innovative solutions that bolster the role of green heritage in benefiting the environment, exhibit exemplary practices in the realm of cultural and green heritage, and emphasize their contribution to fostering a sustainable economy.
