Oman’s Achievements in the Environmental Field
What are the Sultanate’s achievements in the field of the environment?
– The first country in the Gulf to develop a comprehensive law to protect the environment.
– The first Arab award in the field of the environment: Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation.
– The first Ministry of Environment at the level of the Arab countries.
– The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) has ranked it as one of the ten best conservation countries.
Awards
Peace and Environment Award in 2007. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs received a certificate of appreciation from the United Nations Environment Program in the field of protecting the ozone layer.
Best Tourist Destination Award in 2008 by “Vogue” magazine and “Condé Nast” publication.
Muscat Municipality was awarded an award for the best experiences and practices of public services provided to the public. The competition was organized by the United Nations Ministry of Economic and Social Affairs in early 2002.
The environmental program (Man and the Environment) won the silver award at the 11th Gulf Radio and Television Festival – Manama / Bahrain. Represented by the Environment Conservation Office, the Sultanate won the Environmental Media Award for the film “The Arabian Leopard in the Sultanate of Oman.”
