The spring season, or what it’s called locally “the Sarb season,” is considered one of the most enjoyable and joyful seasons in the Dhofar Governorate, as it is characterized by an exceptional nature that is attractive to visitors from different countries. This season, characterized by its stunning beauty, extends from the last week of September to the previous week of December every year.
When the rain drizzle stops and the fog clears over the mountainous areas, the sun’s warm rays begin to shine with the cool morning breeze, where the sky is clear. The winds are refreshing, and calm prevails over the place at noon, and the cool breezes begin in the evening, and silence prevails at night time, and the birds begin to sing, and the plants and trees grow with their green leaves and everything. In nature, it appears extraordinarily splendid and beautiful.
The Sarb season is characterized by moderate weather, where the pastures have become green and flowers bloom. The spring season is crucial to farmers, fishermen, and livestock herders because it is suitable for planting and harvesting various types of crops. It is also a suitable time for fishing for different kinds and providing honey.
The livestock begin to graze in those green spots, which contributes to increasing the production of meat and dairy products, which constitute an essential source of grazing for these livestock owners.
Residents sell the fruits and vegetables they harvest from their farms, honey, and manufacture milk and dairy products and display them in the markets. The essential main crops grown during the spring are cucumbers, Dhofar beans, and corn.
