The Gulf Cooperation Council-European Union and Ministerial Meeting
The Sultanate of Oman closely watches and expresses concern over the escalating conflict between Palestinians and Israelis due to the ongoing illegal Israeli occupation and continuous attacks. Serious consequences and increased violence are anticipated. Oman urges both parties to exercise restraint and protect civilians.
“I urge everyone to maintain self-control and promptly halt the firing of weapons, release prisoners from all sides, and uphold international and humanitarian laws.”
”The Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union have agreed on the importance of exercising restraint, de-escalating tensions, and the significance of releasing civilian detainees from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides.”
‎The Omani Foreign Minister, in his statement during the Gulf Cooperation Council-European Union Meeting, discussed the shared stance on the Palestinian issue.
HE Sayyid. Badr Al Busaidi, the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the cooperation between the European Union and the Arab League in finding a joint initiative to assist in revitalizing the two-state solution.
‎He noted that this effort cannot replace genuine negotiation between the two parties, and it requires active participation from everyone to overcome the current impasse.
According to Mr. Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, the Sultanate of Oman serves as a reliable and constructive mediator, both regionally and internationally.
