Oman’s SOHAR Port to Become a Global Hub for Polymer Manufacturing

SOHAR Port and Freezone, Oman’s leading integrated port and industrial zone, is poised to become a global hub for polymer manufacturing with the establishment of the world’s second largest polymer plant in its petrochemical cluster. The $300 million investment by Universal FINE Chemicals SPC, a joint venture between Singaporean and Chinese companies, is a testament to Oman’s commitment to innovation, sustainable development, and economic diversification.

The new plant will produce polyacrylamide (PAM) and related monomers, which are used in a wide range of applications, including enhanced oil recovery, water treatment, the paper industry, and agriculture. PAM is also a key ingredient in many sustainable products, such as biodegradable plastics and water purification systems.
