Shaheen Hurricane in Oman: A Community Effort

Background

On October 3, 2021, the Sultanate of Oman witnessed Shaheen Hurricane, specifically in Suwaiq and Khaboura. It was one of the nights that the people of Batinah will never forget, as Suwaiq and Al Khaboura witnessed an unprecedented entry of water that flooded almost every house.

Impact

After “Shaheen” struck North Al Batinah, one of the most violent tropical storms witnessed in the Sultanate’s atmosphere, it left human and material losses and psychological trauma to various groups of society. North Al Batinah witnessed devastation in farms and homes after seawater and heavy rains surrounded everything.

Community Response

As a result of Shaheen’s climate strike, Omani society called upon its high moral values, and everyone rushed to help and support financially and morally, in an image that confirmed that our society is characterized by a high degree of human transcendence and sophistication.

Omanspire’s Role

Omanspire team also played its role in providing assistance and support in the affected areas.
