Oman’s Trade Surplus Reaches OMR 2.09 Billion, Driven by Strong Re-Export Growth

According to official statistics, the Sultanate of Oman recorded a trade surplus of OMR 2.09 billion by the end of April 2026. This performance showcases the continued strength of the nation’s international trade relations and the resilience of its export-oriented sectors, compared to a surplus of OMR 2.11 billion during the same period in 2025.

Export Value and Import Dynamics

A key driver of this stability was the re-export sector, which grew by 66.8%. The value of re-exported goods rose to OMR 770 million by the end of April 2026, compared to OMR 462 million during the same period in 2025. This significant increase highlights Oman’s role as a growing logistics hub in the region, leveraging its ports and free zones to facilitate global trade flows.

Bilateral Trade Partners

Saudi Arabia emerged as the leading destination for Omani exports, receiving goods valued at OMR 480 million. The United Arab Emirates followed as the second-largest destination with OMR 233 million, while exports to the United States reached OMR 214 million.

On the import side, the United Arab Emirates remained Oman’s primary trading partner, supplying goods worth OMR 1.5 billion. Imports from Saudi Arabia stood at OMR 801 million, demonstrating the deep economic integration and trade links within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

“The expansion of our re-export sector and steady trade surplus are clear indicators of Oman’s growing integration into global supply chains, aligned with our long-term economic diversification goals.”

Strategic Outlook

These positive trade indicators reflect the ongoing efforts under Oman Vision 2040 to enhance non-oil exports and diversify trade partners. The sustained trade surplus provides a solid financial foundation, reinforcing the country’s creditworthiness and attracting further foreign direct investment into local manufacturing and industrial zones.
