The Ministry has developed a national guide for engineering specifications aimed at creating inclusive urban environments. This guide focuses on improving transportation access for persons with disabilities, ensuring that infrastructure development considers the needs of every community member.

To improve service delivery, the Ministry has prepared a guide outlining quality standards for services aimed at individuals with disabilities. This initiative is vital for ensuring that services are not only accessible but also effective in meeting the unique needs of this demographic.

Safeguarding the Future: Insights from the Ministry of Social Development Conference on Child Protection Initiatives

In 2024, the Ministry of Social Development made significant strides in child protection, addressing vulnerabilities and providing crucial support.

🚸 Addressing Child Vulnerability

Child protection committees engaged with 2,973 children at risk of abuse, successfully placing 72 children in family protection homes. This proactive approach underscores the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable populations.

☎️ Effectiveness of the Child Protection Hotline

The child protection hotline received 1,246 calls, demonstrating active community engagement and awareness of child protection issues. This hotline serves as a valuable resource for those seeking help.

🚨 Ongoing Concerns of Human Trafficking

The Ministry reported 27 cases of human trafficking, highlighting ongoing challenges in safeguarding vulnerable populations. Continued vigilance and collaborative efforts are essential to combat trafficking and protect at-risk individuals.

👥 Support for Divorced Women and At-Risk Groups

17 cases of divorced women needing targeted support services were documented, reinforcing the need for comprehensive resources. Additionally, several cases of women exposed to abuse were identified, emphasizing the necessity for protective measures.

The Omani community exemplifies commitment to compassion and support through generous acts of giving.

💰 Generous Community Contributions

A remarkable 25,506,062 Omani Rials were provided to 317,463 beneficiaries through assistance from social development committees and volunteer teams. This generosity highlights the community’s dedication to uplifting those in need.

🌐 Engagement on the Jood Charity Platform

The Jood Charity Platform has seen significant engagement, with 168,747 donors contributing a total of 2,551,923 Omani Rials to various initiatives. Furthermore, 174,213 Omani Rials were raised for relief campaigns, showcasing the community’s proactive response to humanitarian needs.

Empowering Inclusion: Direct Employment Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities

Her Excellency Dr. Leila Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development, announced a key initiative in 2024:

“In line with the high directives, 200 positions have been directly allocated for employment across various governmental sectors, exclusively for individuals with disabilities.”
