In just two years, Omani equestrian Shifaa Al Hashmi has turned her passion for horses into a journey of achievement, determination, and growing confidence. Her progress in showjumping reflects the ambition of Omani women who continue to challenge expectations and pursue their goals.
From First Rides to the Podium
Shifaa’s sporting journey began long before she discovered horses. As a child, she explored several sports, including taekwondo, gymnastics, handball, and basketball. However, it was equestrianism that truly captured her heart.
She began riding with little experience, learning through challenges, consistent training, and patience. Her dedication soon began to show in competition. During her first showjumping season, she completed clear rounds without faults throughout her participation, an achievement that strengthened her confidence and encouraged her to aim higher.
She has also secured podium finishes in Oman, achieving third place alongside sixth- and tenth-place results among experienced riders. Competing against athletes with more than a decade of experience has made these accomplishments especially meaningful.
