His Majesty the Sultan chaired the Cabinet meeting at Al Barakah Palace

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik — may God protect and preserve him — chaired a Cabinet meeting during which a number of directives and decisions were issued, reflecting the Sultanate of Oman’s continued commitment to comprehensive development across economic, social, and governance sectors.

His Majesty directed the establishment of the “Economic Coordination Council,” to be chaired by His Highness Sayyid Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. The Council aims to achieve alignment between government policies and the needs of the private sector, anticipate global economic trends, enhance the growth of key economic sectors, and strengthen the role of the private sector in driving economic development. The initiative also reinforces the direction of public policies toward a more diversified and balanced economic model.

In a continued effort to strengthen the principle of Shura and advance institutional development, His Majesty directed the allocation of an additional seat for women in each province, totaling eleven seats. These seats will be added to the existing positions open for competition, with the aim of enhancing the active participation of Omani women in various fields.

His Majesty praised government entities that achieved the highest performance levels in the Government Institutions Performance Evaluation for 2025, as well as those that demonstrated the greatest improvement. He emphasized the importance of translating these results into higher levels of satisfaction among citizens and residents, improving the business environment, and advancing the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

In light of the rapid expansion of digital communication platforms and their widespread use among children, His Majesty directed the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the issue. This includes developing appropriate regulatory frameworks and mechanisms to guide children’s use of such platforms, support families, and ensure optimal and responsible usage, drawing on leading international experiences.

The Council of Ministers underscored the importance of prioritizing cybersecurity initiatives across all government units, addressing related challenges on an ongoing basis, and enhancing coordination with relevant authorities, particularly in view of rapid technological developments in this field.

The Cabinet approved the establishment of the “Government Assets Authority” to oversee the management and investment of the state’s fixed assets in accordance with the highest standards of transparency. The initiative aims to maximize returns and transform these assets into a sustainable economic resource that supports the state’s general budget.

The Cabinet also reviewed national efforts related to employment and commended both government and private sector initiatives in advancing employment programs and creating job opportunities for citizens. Emphasis was placed on the need to raise employment targets and intensify efforts to expand opportunities further.

His Majesty praised the launch of the “Muscat Plan” in cooperation with the United Nations, describing it as a practical reflection of Oman’s long-standing principles rooted in dialogue, understanding, and constructive human partnerships. The Council reaffirmed the Sultanate’s steadfast commitment to respecting state sovereignty, refraining from interference in internal affairs, maintaining good neighborly relations, and promoting dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means for resolving disputes.

The Cabinet welcomed the understanding reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing appreciation for regional and international efforts, particularly the constructive role played by the Gulf Cooperation Council states and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in safeguarding regional security and stability.

His Majesty expressed appreciation for the swift response of the military and security apparatus in defending the homeland, emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance to maintain security and stability. He also reaffirmed Oman’s balanced and neutral role, its commitment to upholding the principles of law and justice, and its dedication to ensuring the safety of maritime navigation and freedom of passage in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.

Amid global economic impacts resulting from ongoing developments, His Majesty praised the efforts undertaken by relevant entities in both the public and private sectors to secure the supply of goods and facilitate transportation and logistics. He stressed the importance of continuing these efforts, strengthening coordination at both national and regional levels, and enhancing Gulf cooperation to mitigate negative impacts and ensure readiness.

His Majesty further directed the provision of a package of facilitation measures to support key sectors of the national economy, particularly small and medium enterprises affected by recent developments, with the aim of alleviating economic pressures.

His Majesty also praised the responsible and balanced perspectives expressed by citizens, highlighting the distinguished character of Omani society in addressing various issues. He commended the role of Omani media in presenting national positions with objectivity and prioritizing the national interest.

In conclusion, His Majesty emphasized the importance of leveraging the Sultanate of Oman’s strong international relations to enhance mutual benefits, strengthen economic partnerships, and contribute to sustainable prosperity and stability at both regional and global levels.
