Concurrently, national energy leader OQ Alternative Energy and global logistics provider Asyad Group signed a pivotal Key Terms Agreement to off-take locally produced green hydrogen for heavy transportation and port logistics in Duqm, cementing Oman’s status as a global clean energy frontrunner.

By joining member states from North America, Europe, and Asia, Oman secures direct influence over international technical codes, certification frameworks, and bilateral trade corridors.

Closing the Domestic Loop: OQ and Asyad in Duqm
While diplomatic accessions shape global rules, practical decarbonization occurs in industrial corridors. The agreement signed between OQ Alternative Energy and Asyad Group establishes an operational framework to utilize green hydrogen produced at OQ’s Duqm facility within Asyad’s maritime and terrestrial logistics networks.
OQ’s Duqm pilot installation is designed to generate up to 400 kilograms of high-purity green hydrogen per day using dedicated solar and wind power. Through the new agreement, this zero-carbon fuel will be channeled directly to heavy freight haulers, port terminal vehicles, and drydock auxiliary operations. Asyad will deploy specialized fuel-cell vehicles and refueling stations in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), testing equipment reliability under harsh marine and desert operating conditions.

Strategic Alignment with Net Zero 2050
The integration of clean molecules with heavy logistics addresses one of the most stubborn sectors in emissions reduction: overland freight and marine handling. While light personal transport shifts readily to battery-electric drivetrains, long-haul industrial freight requires the high energy density, rapid refueling, and heavy payload capacity that only green hydrogen provides.
