Vienna, 24 June 2026 (ONA)
On Wednesday evening, the first direct flight of SalamAir, the low-cost carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, arrived at Vienna International Airport in the Republic of Austria, marking the launch of the first direct air route connecting the two countries. This step enhances the airline’s presence in Europe and expands its international network.
The aircraft received an official welcome upon arrival at Vienna Airport, attended by His Excellency Yousuf bin Ahmed Al Jabri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Austria, and Julian Jäger, Co-CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Vienna Airport.
In a press statement, His Excellency said that launching the first direct air route between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Austria through SalamAir strengthens bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. He noted that it will boost tourism and cultural exchange between the Omani and Austrian peoples, while also opening broader opportunities for communication between private sector institutions and companies in both countries. This, in turn, supports trade and investment prospects and enhances economic partnerships.
SalamAir will operate this route with three weekly flights, providing travelers with a direct and convenient option to travel between Muscat and Vienna. This contributes to strengthening Muscat’s position as a strategic gateway linking Europe with the Gulf region, Asia, and East Africa.
Travelers can book their flights to Vienna via SalamAir’s website, mobile application, sales offices, and travel partners.
