Wheat Harvest Season Begins in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate

The wheat harvesting season has officially commenced in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, covering key wilayats including Al Kamil and Al Wafi, Sur, and Jalan Bani Bu Hassan. This development reflects continued progress in Oman’s agricultural sector and its commitment to enhancing local food production.

According to local agricultural authorities, the total cultivated area has reached approximately 41 acres, with expected production exceeding 50 tons during the 2025/2026 season. Output levels are anticipated to vary depending on the types of seeds utilized.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources continues to play a pivotal role in boosting agricultural productivity. Through the introduction of modern technologies, improved seed varieties, and advanced farming techniques, the ministry is supporting farmers in achieving higher yields and better crop quality.

Farmers are also receiving ongoing technical guidance and support to ensure sustainable farming practices. In addition, the ministry has facilitated access to modern harvesting machinery, enabling improved efficiency, reduced labor requirements, and faster, more effective grain collection.

These combined efforts contribute significantly to strengthening Oman’s food security while promoting sustainable agricultural development. The wheat harvest season represents an important step toward increasing domestic production and advancing the nation’s long-term agricultural goals under Oman Vision 2040.
