Dawood Al-Yousufi Wins World Silver at Junior Taekwondo Championships

Tashkent, April 14, 2026 (ONA) — Omani national team athlete Dawood Al-Yousufi secured a silver medal at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, following a series of impressive performances in the 48 kg category.

Al-Yousufi, competing under the guidance of national coach Fahad Al-Yousufi, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament. He achieved victories over a number of top-tier international competitors representing countries including Egypt, Russia, Chinese Taipei, and Kazakhstan.

The championship featured the participation of 986 athletes from 115 countries. Al-Yousufi advanced to the final, where he faced a competitor from the host nation, Uzbekistan, ultimately finishing second in the world. His achievement places him among the top 57 athletes who competed in the same weight division.

Al-Yousufi is regarded as one of Oman’s most promising rising athletes and is officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth. His training program is overseen by a specialized team focusing on sports planning and physical conditioning within the ministry.

This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in his career and highlights Oman’s growing presence on the international taekwondo stage.
