Joint Statement on the State Visit of His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, to the Sultanate of Oman

Within the framework of the strong historical relations and fraternal bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Türkiye, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, paid a State Visit to the Sultanate of Oman from 22 to 23 October 2025, in response to the gracious invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman.
During the visit, the two sides held official talks to review ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation to serve mutual interests. Both sides affirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Key outcomes of the visit:
- The signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding covering media and communications, investment, food, information technology, competition and anti-monopoly, industry, science and innovation, military cooperation and defense industries, mining, and an agreement on land allocation for an educational project.
- The two sides underscored their keenness to enhance commercial, investment, and industrial cooperation, to encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors, and to activate the role of joint committees in boosting trade exchange.
- The establishment of the Oman–Türkiye Coordination Council as an institutional framework to follow up on the implementation of memoranda of understanding and agreements, and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across all areas. Both sides renewed support for progress on the Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Türkiye and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
- Mutual visa facilitation: Türkiye announced the exemption of Omani citizens from prior visa requirements, and the Sultanate of Oman announced the exemption of Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports from prior visa requirements to enter Oman, reflecting the deepening of bilateral ties and facilitating movement between the two countries.
- Both sides praised ongoing cooperation in culture, heritage, and higher education, and emphasized enhancing cultural, artistic, and academic exchange.
- The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues, reaffirming their commitment to promoting security, stability, and peaceful dispute resolution in line with international law.
- Both sides welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza, called for its full implementation, and emphasized that negotiation momentum should contribute to the realization of the two-state solution, commending mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Türkiye to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and open a path to just and lasting peace.
- President Erdoğan commended the role of the Sultanate of Oman in supporting dialogue and regional peace, while His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik valued Türkiye’s efforts in supporting Arab and Islamic causes.
- At the conclusion of the visit, President Erdoğan expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and generous reception extended to him and his delegation, and extended an invitation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to visit the Republic of Türkiye, which His Majesty graciously accepted.
Both countries affirmed their intention to continue implementing the agreements and to deepen cooperation across political, economic, cultural, scientific, and security domains to the mutual benefit of their peoples.
