The Ministry of Social Development in Oman launched an independent unit dedicated to receiving and protecting male victims of human trafficking, complementing services provided by the Protection House for women and children.

Enhancing Protection and Support for Victims

The new unit forms part of a comprehensive strategy to combat human trafficking through coordinated efforts between governmental, non-governmental, and international organisations. By adopting global best practices, the unit aims to ensure victims’ safety, dignity, and access to essential services, including:

  • Healthcare and Nutrition: Access to medical care and healthy meals.
  • Psychological and Social Support: Counseling and social integration programs.
  • Rehabilitation and Reintegration: Programs designed to help victims rejoin society effectively.
  • Recreational Activities: Opportunities for leisure and personal development in a safe environment.

About the Protection House

The Protection House, run by the Ministry of Social Development, is a comprehensive facility providing care and support for vulnerable groups, including:

  • Children exposed to abuse, violence, or exploitation.
  • Female victims of violence and abuse.
  • Victims of human trafficking.

The facility ensures a safe and private environment while focusing on rehabilitation, empowerment, and social reintegration to help victims rebuild their lives.
