This occasion highlights Oman’s commitment to enhancing food security through effective national policies.

Oman’s Commitment to Food Security

Oman prioritizes food security by ensuring a stable and reliable food supply. The government has implemented policies to diversify its grain import sources, collaborating with countries such as Australia and those in Latin America. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources is spearheading efforts to fortify the nation’s food and water security systems through three primary strategies focused on agriculture, fisheries, and water resources, all aligned with Oman Vision 2040.

Growth in Employment in Agriculture and Fisheries

Recent statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information reveal a 13.2% increase in the number of Omanis employed in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fishing by the end of October 2024, totaling over 50,000 workers. Conversely, the number of expatriate workers in these sectors has decreased by 10.2%, now standing at approximately 79,000.
