Transportation, Communications and Information Technology distributes charging stations for electric cars

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with its strategic partners, announced the distribution of a number of electric car charging stations on various national and arterial roads in the Sultanate of Oman, with the aim of promoting a culture of adopting modern technologies and reducing carbon emissions.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s endeavor to provide many green mobility solutions and contribute to supporting the electric vehicle system in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with its national program to achieve zero carbon neutrality for the transport sector 2050.

The available electric car charging stations will cover 90 locations along the roads of the Sultanate, including 48 stations in the Governorate of Muscat distributed on highways and some public places, as follows: Bausher (18 stations), Muscat (2 stations), Mutrah (6 stations), and Seeb (6 stations). 22 stations). In North Al Batinah Governorate, there are 10 charging stations distributed as follows: one station in each of Sohar and Shinas, two stations in each of Liwa and Saham, and 4 stations in Al Suwaiq. In Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, there are 8 charging stations distributed among: (7) charging stations in Nizwa and one charging station in Manah. There are 4 charging stations in Al Wusta Governorate: in Haima (3 stations), and in Duqm one station. As for the Dhofar Governorate, there are 12 charging stations, including: (4 stations) in Thumrait, (3 stations) in Muqshin, and in Salalah (5 stations). As for the governorates (Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and South Al Sharqiyah), one charging station has been established for each governorate. And in the border areas 4 charging stations.
It is worth noting that the Ministry is working intensively with its partners in the private sector to strengthen the infrastructure of the Sultanate of Oman and prepare it for electric cars so that it covers most roads. By the end of 2026.
