The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium: A Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium reaffirmed their determination to enhance bilateral cooperation in key economic sectors, including maritime activities, port collaboration, energy transition, and green hydrogen production, aiming to create sustainable economic opportunities and shared prosperity.

A Historic State Visit

This affirmation came in a joint statement issued during the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him, to the Kingdom of Belgium from December 2 to December 4, 2024. At the invitation of His Majesty King Philippe of the Belgians, this visit marked a significant milestone in the journey of friendship and ongoing cooperation between Oman and Belgium.

Strengthening Economic Cooperation

Oman and Belgium emphasized their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in key economic sectors. Recognizing the significant potential for growth, the two nations will continue to explore opportunities for collaboration in various fields, including maritime activities, port partnerships, energy transition, green hydrogen, trade, service industries, life sciences, technological innovation, and space sciences.

Investments and Strategic Partnerships

Both nations aim to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation and identify joint investment opportunities. Negotiations are currently underway to reach a mutually beneficial extension of the Port of Duqm concession, further solidifying economic relations between the two countries. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating dialogue, encouraging investment-friendly policies, and exploring growth prospects in key sectors to achieve mutual benefits.

Knowledge Exchange and Innovation

In a spirit of fostering knowledge and innovation, Oman and Belgium are committed to deepening academic collaboration and enhancing cultural exchange. Both nations emphasized the importance of joint research, mutually beneficial exchange programs, and shared initiatives that contribute to stronger ties between their peoples.

Oman and Belgium reiterated their commitment to promoting peace and stability in conflict regions and globally.
