Tech Investment Spotlight: 33rd World Comex Technology Exhibition 2024 in Oman Drives Digital Innovation

Under the patronage of His Highness Mr. Dhi Yazan bin Haitham Al Said, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, the 33rd edition of the World Comex Technology Exhibition 2024 has been officially opened in the Sultanate of Oman. The event aims to boost digital investment in Oman and foster collaboration among more than 100 local and international institutions in the technology sector.

The grand opening ceremony of the World Comex Technology Exhibition 2024 was marked by the signing of several significant agreements totaling 60 million Omani Rials. These agreements focus on advancing digital transformation, enhancing basic technological infrastructure, and supporting projects of the Investment Authority geared towards bolstering the digital economy and digital investments within the country.

During the inauguration, Dr. Ali Al Shiedhani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, shared insightful details about the digital landscape in Oman. He explained that the total digital investments in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to approximately 2.5 billion US dollars in the year 2023, underscoring the nation’s growing focus on leveraging technology to drive economic development and innovation.

In his speech at the event, His Highness Mr. Dhi Yazan bin Haitham Al Said highlighted the significance of the national program for the digital economy, which aims to increase the contribution of the digital economy to the Gross Domestic Product from 2% to 10% by the year 2040. This ambitious goal aligns with Oman’s vision of becoming a hub for digital innovation and technological advancements in the region.

The national program for the digital economy outlines eight key executive programs, including digital industry, digital transformation, space, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, e-commerce, technonomics, cybersecurity industry, and technological infrastructure. These programs are designed to create a conducive environment for digital growth, investment, and innovation, positioning Oman as a leader in the digital economy landscape.

The 33rd edition of the World Comex Technology Exhibition serves as a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in digital technology, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation in Oman’s technology sector. With a strong emphasis on digital transformation and investment, the event plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Oman’s digital economy and positioning the country as a key player in the global technology arena.
