SOHAR FREEZONE SIGNS SIX AGREEMENTS WORTH OVER OMR 63 MILLION AT OPAZ CEREMONY
Projects spanning more than 440,000 sqm will strengthen Oman’s industrial base and global supply-chain reach.
Suhar, Oman, 8 November 2026 – SOHAR Freezone has signed six land-lease agreements at the investment agreements signing ceremony organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). Together, the projects represent more than OMR 63 million in planned investment across more than 440,000 square metres, spanning automotive and advanced industries, transformer manufacturing, medical devices, textile reuse and specialised logistics.
The signings reflect OPAZ’s role in attracting investment and enabling industrial growth across Oman’s special economic zones and free zones. They also reinforce the partnership between OPAZ and SOHAR Port and Freezone in creating an environment where value-added manufacturing can grow alongside integrated logistics and efficient access to international markets.
Dr. Raid Al Rubaiey, CEO of SOHAR Port and Freezone, said: “These agreements reflect growing investor confidence in SOHAR’s integrated industrial and logistics ecosystem. They will diversify our industrial base, strengthen value chains and connect manufacturing with regional and global markets through SOHAR Port. Working alongside OPAZ, we continue to develop an investment environment that supports business growth, enhances Oman’s competitiveness and creates lasting economic value.”
Strengthening Oman’s Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities
The largest of the new projects will strengthen Oman’s industrial and advanced-manufacturing capabilities. Sohar Automotive & Advanced Industries Park SPC (FZC), established by EW Partners, will invest approximately OMR 38 million in real assets to develop an automotive and advanced industries park on approximately 317,000 sqm. Its first phase will deliver around 180,000 sqm of manufacturing plants, workshops and warehouses, creating a platform for automotive manufacturers, suppliers and advanced-manufacturing businesses in Oman to serve the world.
Building on this industrial momentum, Voltamp International LLC (FZC) will invest OMR 15 million in a 75,000 sqm facility to manufacture power and distribution transformers. Using copper, electrical steel, mild steel and industrial oils, the project will expand Oman’s electrical-equipment manufacturing capabilities and serve customers in regional and international markets. It is expected to develop specialised technical skills in transformer production and strengthen local content across the electrical-equipment value chain.
Expanding Medical Device Manufacturing and Circular Economy Activity
SOHAR’s growing industrial ecosystem will also support higher-value sectors closer to the end user. Lalan Middle East LLC will invest approximately OMR 1.5 million to expand its medical-device manufacturing and integrated services by 7,500 sqm. The development will add downstream manufacturing, laboratory facilities and specialised warehousing, strengthening healthcare supply chains across Oman and the GCC while supporting local value creation and technical training.
In parallel, Five Star Group (FZC) LLC will invest OMR 3.85 million in a 25,000 sqm used-clothing sorting facility serving African markets, including Angola, Congo and Tanzania. The project will advance textile reuse and circular-economy activity and generate additional cargo volumes through SOHAR Port.
Enhancing Trade, Distribution and Logistics Connectivity
The remaining agreements focus on connecting production with markets through SOHAR’s trade and logistics infrastructure. Volt Power and Lighting (FZC) LLC will invest OMR 800,000 in an 8,406 sqm warehouse for importing, storing, trading and re-exporting finished electrical and lighting products. By linking suppliers in Asia with markets across Africa, the facility will further establish SOHAR as a distribution hub.
Dynamic Logistics Services will add to this capability with an OMR 150,000 investment in a 7,000 sqm storage and re-export facility. Initially focused on tools and engineering equipment before expanding into specialised warehousing, the project is expected to broaden the logistics services available to businesses operating through SOHAR Freezone.
Together, these projects build on SOHAR Freezone’s strategic location, industrial infrastructure and direct integration with SOHAR Port. By bringing manufacturing, distribution and trade closer together, they reinforce SOHAR’s position as a regional and international hub for industry, logistics and supply-chain connectivity.
