Omani Women’s Day: Khulood Al Khudoori’s Journey in Law and Justice

For Omani lawyer Khulood Al Khudoori, a career in law is built on knowledge, integrity, and a commitment to justice. Her professional journey reflects the determination of Omani women pursuing excellence and contributing to the protection of individual and business rights.

Academic Excellence and Legal Expertise

Driven by a passion for justice and the pursuit of truth, Khulood earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Law from Sultan Qaboos University, followed by a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS). She also holds the TOLES (Test of Legal English Skills) certification, strengthening her legal English skills.

Following practical training, she obtained her licence to practise law in Oman. Her experience spans civil, commercial, and administrative cases, providing her with a broad understanding of the Omani legal system and the role of law in protecting rights.

Overcoming Challenges as a Woman in Law

Establishing herself in the legal profession required resilience, particularly in a demanding environment involving complex cases, long working hours, and high expectations. Khulood also encountered stereotypes about women’s ability to handle major commercial disputes and complex litigation.

She responded by focusing on preparation, professional development, and demonstrating her capabilities through her work. Her experience highlights the importance of challenging assumptions through competence and dedication.

Integrity at the Heart of Justice

Khulood believes that thorough preparation is essential to effective legal practice, while integrity remains a lawyer’s most valuable asset. Careful examination of documents, attention to detail, and honest communication help build trust with clients and respect within the legal system.

She also believes that a lawyer’s responsibility extends beyond defending clients: it includes pursuing lawful solutions, respecting fairness, and upholding professional ethics.

Inspiring the Next Generation

For Omani Women’s Day, Khulood encourages young Omani women to trust their abilities, continue learning, and develop communication, negotiation, and critical-thinking skills.

Her journey highlights how education, integrity, and perseverance can help women build successful legal careers and contribute to a more just society.
