Omani Position on the Palestinian Cause

Omani Position on the Palestinian Cause

On October 11, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik chaired the distinguished Council of Ministers meeting at Al Baraka Al Amer Palace. He touched on several internal and international topics, including those he addressed.

Support for Palestinian People

His Majesty the Sultan reviewed the dangerous developments of violence taking place in the Palestinian arena, affirming – may God protect him – the Sultanate of Oman’s solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people and supporting all efforts calling for stopping the escalation and attacks on children and innocent civilians and releasing prisoners by the principles of international humanitarian law, and the need for the international community to undertake With its responsibilities to protect civilians, ensure their humanitarian needs, lift the illegal siege on Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories, and resume the peace process to enable the Palestinian people to regain all their legitimate rights by establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, by the principle of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and all relevant UN resolutions.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Involvement

Regarding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sayyed Badr Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, contacted his counterparts, the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Their Excellencies stressed that the international community and international parties supporting efforts to resume the peace process have a fundamental responsibility to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing escalation in Palestine, open humanitarian corridors for the population in Gaza, and resort to the rules of international and humanitarian law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also following with interest and concern the ongoing escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides due to the continued illegal Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and the constant Israeli attacks against Palestinian cities and villages, which portends severe repercussions and an escalation of violence. The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed alert and emphasis on the strategic necessity of finding a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Gulf Cooperation Council and European Union Cooperation

His Excellency Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also confirmed that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the European Union countries are intensifying efforts at present to discuss the current developments between the Palestinians and the Israelis and seek to start a meaningful and new dialogue between all parties.

During a joint press conference following the meeting of the twenty-seventh session of the Joint Ministerial Council between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union, which was hosted by the capital, Muscat, Al Busaidi said that the Gulf states agreed with the European Union on the necessity of establishing permanent and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, stressing that the ideal solution to end the Palestinian conflict is to select an independent state of Palestine. His Excellency, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, added that there is a Gulf-European consensus on the necessity of strengthening economic cooperation and confronting shared challenges.

Support from Writers, Academics, and Specialists

On the other hand, several writers, academics, and specialists affirmed their pride in the solidarity of the Sultanate of Oman with the Palestinian cause, which was established by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik (may God protect him) during His Majesty’s presidency of the Council of Ministers, and to stand with the brotherly Palestinian people and support all efforts calling for stopping the escalation and attacks on children and innocent civilians and release prisoners by the principles of international humanitarian law.

Support from Citizens and Activists

Several citizens and activists also expressed their pride in the Sultanate of Oman’s honorable position under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. May God protect him towards the first Arab cause, the Palestinian cause, and the Palestinian people, and their support for restoring all their legitimate rights, in addition to supporting Omani artists with their various artistic works to express their support for this cause.

Message from Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalili

Finally, we do not forget the statements of Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalili, the Mufti of the Sultanate, when he said in a new message to him on the “X” platform: We salute from the depths of our hearts the brotherly Muslim Palestinian people for their unity, cohesion, and haste to liberate their sacred soil, and we console them in their honorable martyrs; Calling on all Muslims, countries, peoples and individuals, to stand by them financially and morally.
