Oman Advances Remote Heart Failure Care with First CardioMEMS Implant
Muscat, Oman – The Royal Hospital has achieved a major milestone in specialized cardiac care with the successful implantation of the first CardioMEMS sensor in Oman for remote monitoring of patients with heart failure.
The procedure was performed at the National Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery by a specialized medical team consisting of Dr. Arif bin Ishaq Al Balushi and Dr. Amina bint Sulaiman Al Busaidi.
How the CardioMEMS Sensor Supports Heart Failure Patients
The CardioMEMS system allows healthcare professionals to remotely monitor pulmonary artery pressure through wireless measurements. The sensor is implanted using an interventional catheter-based procedure, avoiding the need for open-heart surgery.
The technology provides medical teams with daily information about a patient’s hemodynamic status and pulmonary artery pressure. These readings can help doctors identify changes in the patient’s condition at an early stage.
