Mubeen Rashid Al Kindi: Oman’s Rising Hammer Throw Star

Sporting Profession

Hammer Throw Athlete, representing Oman’s international team.

How It All Began

My journey in hammer throw began in 2017, but it was in 2019 that I truly embraced the sport as a professional athlete. That year marked my first serious step into the world of elite sports, and since then, my commitment to the discipline has only grown stronger.

Inspiration and Motivation

My inspiration comes from none other than my father. He was a professional athlete before me and later became a coach for several years. Watching him, and the dedication he put into both his career and coaching, ignited my passion to follow in his footsteps.

The drive to compete at the highest level was also fueled by witnessing the incredible performances in the Olympic Games and World Championships. The hard work these athletes put in to reach the pinnacle of their events made me dream of becoming one of them. My goal is to be among the top four in the world at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Key Achievements

My most significant achievement so far was qualifying for the U20 World Championships in Colombia in 2022, becoming the first Omani to achieve this in hammer throw. Here are some of the milestones that have shaped my career:

  • 2019: Set a new Omani record in the Under-19 category and secured second place in the Arab competition.
  • 2022: Broke Oman’s youth record, qualified for the World Athletics Championships, and clinched first place in the West Asia competition.
  • 2024: Set a new Omani record, representing Oman on the international stage with the national team.

Throughout my journey, I’ve looked up to one of the greatest hammer throw athletes, Paweł Fajdek of Poland. With a personal best of 83 meters, Fajdek is a five-time world champion and three-time Olympic champion. His dominance in the sport inspires me to push my limits every day.

Message to the Omani Youth

To the youth of Oman: Stay committed to your goals. If you want to achieve something, you must work hard—nothing comes easy in life. Let’s aim to raise Oman’s flag high on the world stage. With determination and perseverance, we can put Oman at the forefront of international sports.
