It gives me great pleasure, on this seventeenth day of October, as we celebrate Omani Women’s Day, to share in this occasion filled with affection and appreciation for the women of Oman, who have carried upon their shoulders its glorious heritage and noble mission. Through them, Oman has been adorned with light and joy. They have enriched every family in our generous homeland, and every woman who lives beneath its skies and is embraced by its land.
Our celebration of Omani Women’s Day this year shines even more brightly as Omani women have been granted a distinguished privilege by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect and preserve him: the allocation of an additional seat for women in the Shura Council from each governorate. This reaffirms their established standing and strengthens their role in building the nation in a manner that keeps pace with the demands of the modern age and looks confidently toward the future, trusting in the capabilities of Omani women and their contributions across various forums. This entitlement must be matched by active participation and sincere national service.
In an era when the horizons of knowledge continue to expand, sources of influence multiply, and ideas increasingly intersect, the role of women in building nations, societies, and human beings—in intellect, spirit, and a firmly rooted identity—continues to grow. We have every confidence that Omani women are fully capable of fulfilling this responsibility and shouldering this trust, with the enlightened thinking, prudent guidance, and serious commitment it requires.
