COMEX Technology Exhibition 2024

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Arab Research House, held a press conference for the COMEX Technology Exhibition. The activities will begin on May 27 and continue until May 30 at the Oman Exhibition and Convention Center.

At the beginning of the conference, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shaythani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, spoke, saying: “The Ministry seeks for the exhibition to be a digital investment destination and a forum to enhance the objectives of the National Program for the Digital Economy, as the COMEX exhibition has come to largely embody the vital integrated system of the sector.”

Communications and information technology in the Sultanate of Oman, as it brings together government institutions concerned with the communications and information technology sector, with government companies operating in the sector, large, medium and emerging technology companies, as well as entrepreneurs in the technical field, innovators, experts, those interested in technology, and the general public benefiting from Digital services and technologies.

The exhibition has also become a platform for displaying the latest electronic services for government and private institutions, the most prominent innovations, and digital products provided by companies operating in the sector, which is considered a marketing and investment interface through which it is possible to establish commercial partnerships and showcase the latest achievements.

His Excellency Dr. Al-Shaythani confirmed that work is continuing in the various axes of the National Program for the Digital Economy, whether at the level of developing legislative and regulatory structures, promoting digital investment, digital transformation and developing electronic services, or at the level of supporting emerging technology companies in these fields, and adopting effective technical solutions and innovations in various fields.

One of the most important indicators of development in terms of attracting foreign investments in the communications and information technology sector to Oman is what we have witnessed over the past two years in the launch of a number of new technical projects with international and local investments in the fields of data centers, artificial intelligence, space, and the localization of new industries.

It forms the backbone of the digital economy, such as semiconductors, and the inauguration of the design of the first electronic chips by Omani hands: Oman 1 and Oman 2. Dr. Al-Shaythani stated that the exhibition will include displaying indicators of development in the National Digital Economy Program so that it will be available to the public.

More than 100 emerging Omani companies that have technical products, solutions and digital services will participate in the exhibition, with the support of the Ministry, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Omantel, and the Omantel Group. Beside that; The Ministry will organize the Second Digital Transformation Forum, which is a platform to review and disseminate best practices on digital transformation and transfer digital experiences and modern regional and global technologies.

The forum aims to review the best regional and global practices and anticipate the future to maximize the benefit from innovative technical solutions, and provide new opportunities for partnership between the government and private sectors in Digital transformation.

Mr. Amr Abdullah Baaboud, CEO of Dar Al Arabiya, announced during the conference that COMEX 2024 will witness participation from an elite group of institutions and companies in the public and private sectors, including ministries, agencies, embassies, startups, and various organizations from all over the Gulf region and the world.

COMEX provides a vital platform where private and public institutions come together and discover the latest trends in artificial intelligence technology, financial technology, insurance technology, blockchain technology, drones, future mobility, augmented reality, smart cities, space technology, and many other innovations that have achieved a breakthrough in the world of technology.
